About Dreams for Kids

Dreams for Kids is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1989 that focuses on replacing charity with opportunity for youth grades 1-12. We develop young social entrepreneurs through practical education and mentorship so they can turn their ideas into impact. We train and mentor youth, providing practical education and contemporary life and job skills as they create enterprises that produce innovative solutions to society's critical social issues. There are many ways to make a difference and numerous ways to create an impact in your community and to work with other cities, by joining in a common cause of youth education and opportunity. Dreams for Kids Youth Executive Board is an example of what is possible. Students, ages 7-13, all of whom have started and expanded nonprofits, many of whom have started their businesses. They have been honored, locally and nationally, and featured in national media and on talks shows. They are a reminder of what we all are capable of achieving. And that we dont have to wait to be great and to make a difference. Our Youth Executive Board leads the Power of One Campaign, enrolling thousands of youth to raise over $1 million to support existing nonprofits, and establish over 150 new social enterprise and social impact initiatives.
