We focus on the "500 mile gap" -- trips that are "too far to drive, too close to fly, but just right for a comfortable night's sleep in a private hotel room on wheels. We are preparing to launch our first of several North American routes, focusing on major city pairs selected according to our fine-tuned criteria. Fares for basic private compartments are targeted at parity with airfare, with premium first-class and economy options also available. "Go to sleep. Wake up there." Board at a downtown terminal, or convenient suburban station, have dessert, drinks or coffee, watch a movie or check e-mail, and fall soundly asleep -- to wake up minutes from your destination, spending only an hour or so of conscious travel time. Compare that with a five-hour "short hop" airline odyssey, fighting traffic to a remote airport, checking in 90 minutes early, being wedged into a 17-inch seat, and then facing another long surface trip to your final objective.
