About Duke Energy Convention Center
The Duke Energy Convention Center is managed by Legends Global and located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, within blocks of top-rated restaurants, bars, pro-sports venues and attractions. The 40,000 sq. ft. grand ballroom is the largest and most spectacular in the Midwest. In addition, the Center offers 200,000 sq. ft. of exhibit spaces and 30 deluxe meeting rooms. The Duke Energy Convention Center is now within a year of reopening as we work to complete a $264 million transformation and redesign! This exciting project is well underway and on schedule, as the exterior of the building is dismantled in preparation for a new glass exterior, allowing greater natural light in the building. Interior walls and the main 1st floor escalators have been removed to facilitate wider concourses with open atriums for improved circulation and traffic flow. The design elements have begun to take shape in the 17,326 square foot Queen City Ballroom (previously Junior Ballroom) and extensive work is taking place on the ballroom’s new outdoor terrace, which will lead to an upgraded meeting and dining experience. While the interior walls are exposed, the upgrades to all the buildings major systems are moving forward to create a vast improvement in energy efficiency. As these projects are completed, the construction team will look ahead toward the addition of exciting new features, including digital signage and technology infrastructure such as enhanced Wi-Fi throughout the venue. Finally, the permanent closure of Elm Street between 5th and 6th Streets has enabled crews to make significant progress on the new Elm Street Plaza. Once completed, the plaza will provide a more welcoming arrival experience and create a new outdoor reception and convention gathering space. The project remains on schedule for a reimagined building reopening in January 2026.
