Dr. Jay C. Dumas owns and operates Dumas Family Dentistry in New Orleans. Aside from managing his own practice, Dr. Dumas has been the site Dentist at Bridge City Correctional Center for Youth since 2010. New Orleans City Business honored Dr. Dumas by naming him a Health Care Hero in 2011. Dr. Dumas has also been honored to be recognized by his peers in New Orleans Magazine as a Top Dentist New Orleans 2008-2018. Current and past services include serving on the Boards of the YMCA Greater New Orleans, Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE), and Son of Saint nonprofit. Dr. Dumas also works closely with the Youth Empowerment Project servicing the youth that belong to the program. Dr. Dumas also provides pro bono dental care to Innocence Project exonerees once they are released. Dr. Dumas hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Xavier University of Louisiana and a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) Temple University School of Dentistry Philadelphia PA. Dr. Dumas was recently appointed in 2017 by Governor John Bell Edwards to serve on the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry. Professionally, Dr. Dumas has served as the past President for the Pelican State Dental Association, Past President New Orleans Dental Society, and is a long-time member of the National Dental Association.
