About Durham University Bar Society

The Durham University Bar Society was established in 2016. Since then, the society has expanded and diversified, serving over 230 members interested in a vast array of practice areas and routes to the Bar. We are proud to inspire and support law and non-law students alike and are thankful to all Chambers, Barristers, Judges, and Professors who support the society and all its events. In addition to career events, the society facilitates networking and social opportunities with legal professionals, to allow for students to engage with other members and learn more about the community of the Bar. Events include: visits to the National Pupillage Fair in London; talks from judges and barristers regarding their path to the Bar; workshops for BPTC, GDL, Inns of Court Scholarship and Pupillage applications; social events; mock trials; and much more. The Durham University Bar Society has already won the Durham Law School Society of the Year Award and continues to aspire to such heights in providing members and non-members alike with a unique opportunity to access careers at the Bar.
