About Dutch Unique

Dutch Unique is a new bicycle brand founded in the early spring of 2011. Through a process of recycling, which we like to refer to as beautifying, Dutch Unique is giving old and abandoned bicycles a second life. Each year around one million new bicycles are sold in Holland. This means that masses of bikes become redundent and unused. After serving their owners for many years they are being abandoned and left out on the streets. Local government removes them of the street after which they will be destroyed. The frame, being the heart and the strongest part of the bicycle, is in many cases still usable. To ensure these frames do not go to waste and to help the environment, Dutch Unique is giving them another chance. All our bicycles are disassembled and only the frames and forks are reused. The frames are thoroughly checked for safety and strength. Once the frames have been sandblasted and powder coated, the addition of high quality parts results in a completely new bicycle. Our goal is to give cyclists the comfort of upright cycling and a feeling of freedom while riding our bicycles. In the future we also aim to give our customers the opportunity to order a completely custom made bicycle.
