About DVassist

DVassist is a unique and innovative organisation that offers phone and web chat counselling to address the complex issue of abusive relationships for people living in regional, rural and remote areas of Western Australia. DVassist commenced in 2017 as a pilot project with an initial focus on 16 regional areas of Western Australia covering the East and West Kimberly, Pilbara, Wheatbelt, Goldfields-Esperance, Great Southern, Geraldton and some parts of the South West. With generous support from various donors, over time we expanded to 58 shires within the regional, rural and remote WA. Our mission is to support any person impacted by an abusive relationship in rural, regional and remote Western Australia to make informed choices that enhance their life and personal safety. We intend to achieve our mission through: - Making it easy for people experiencing domestic violence to find local domestic and family violence support services in their town via a comprehensive online service directory at www.dvassist.org.au - Providing people experiencing domestic violence with regionally focused and relevant information about domestic violence, and tools on our website to assist them to empower themselves to make informed choices that enhance their life and personal safety. - Establishing a rural and remote focused telephone and online web-chat counselling service providing triage, single and multi-session counselling, referral, and on-going case management and support for people experiencing domestic violence. We hope to be a resource and partner for regional areas in WA moving forward and look forward to collaborating with you to spread the word about the valuable and vital work being done in the community to support those impacted by family and domestic violence. DVassist is a Registered Charity (Public Benevolent Institution entity subtype) with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. It is endorsed by the ATO as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).
