About Dymocks Group
The Dymocks Group is a privately owned company and owner of the iconic Dymocks Books business which has been trading continuously since 1879. The business is owned by John Forsyth AM, the grand nephew of the original William Dymock who founded Dymocks in Sydney in 1879. The business has been based at 424 - 428 George Street, Sydney since 1922 when the site of the old Royal Hotel was purchased by the family and the heritage listed Dymocks Building was completed in 1929. Since its humble beginnings in 1879 the Group has grown to encompass five distinct business divisions: 1. Bookselling through Dymocks Books 2. Stationery wholesaling and retailing through Telegram Group 3. Farming through Arapala Macadamia Farms 4. Property investment through Dymocks Properties 5. Education through Dymocks Tutoring and Dymocks Training Whilst privately owned, the Dymocks Group is managed by a board of directors with a range of experts in various fields providing support to the broader trading businesses.
