Cameron Schmidt the founder and principal inspector at Eagle Inspections. He spent over 10 years involved in home maintenance and renovations. During this time he saw first hand the emotional and financial devastation that can be caused by not having a clear understanding of the condition of a property before entering into a real estate transaction. Being an empathetic person he was deeply affected by the emotions that his clients were experiencing. Cameron started to look for ways to help mitigate such situations for his clients. He found that South Africa has a relatively small Home Inspection industry aimed at helping home buyers avoid unexpected expenses and surprises. The South African home inspection industry is rapidly growing and gaining traction within the real estate market. Cameron signed up with InterNACHI "International Association of Certified Home Inspectors", the world leading association for home inspectors and obtained a CPI "Certificate Professional Inspector" certification. The Property Practitioners Act No. 22 of 2019 that came into effect in 2022, states that no property can be sold or leased without a mandatory disclosure form being completed and a copy provided to a prospective buyer or lessee of a property. The purpose of this is to disclose all known defects and deficiencies of the property. Backed by an in depth understanding of the SANS 10400 Building Regulations, he decided to use his training and attention to detail gained from years of working in home maintenance and renovations to fill a gap in the South African home inspection industry by starting a home inspection company based in Pretoria. This was the birth of Eagle Inspections.
