About Earlab

Founded in 2017 as a university spin-off from the University Hospital Tübingen, EARLAB GmbH is an innovative medical-device manufacturer focused on providing easy-to-use yet powerful diagnostic tools for patients, physicians, and audiometric professionals. We offer solutions that considerably improve the diagnostic value of audiometric measurements and to make test routines more efficient and reliable. Our innovative technology incorporates both the biophysical principles of sound processing in the human ear and intelligent signal-processing algorithms. The EARLAB technology is based on a unique approach to evoke and analyze short-pulse distortion-product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs), enabling the reconstruction of objective audiograms that predicts behavioral thresholds with unprecedented accuracy. By analyzing the impact of sound conduction and neural feedback loops on DPOAE generation, our measurement technique allows for differential diagnosis of inner-ear, middle-ear, and neural disorders. In the near future, we will complete the development of our first medical-device prototype that can be used in clinical practice to assess hearing loss due to cochlear and middle-ear disorders. Together with our clinical partners we are constantly developing our technology further to achieve our goal, which is nothing less than revolutionizing the diagnosis of hearing loss.
