The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council was established in 1962 and is one of 10 regional planning councils mandated by the Florida Legislature under the authority of Chapter 186, Florida statutes. The ECFRPC is a public agency that assists the public, private, and institutional sectors in a 8-county area to address regional scale issues. The ECFRPC offers services to the eight counties of Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia. This planning area includes 4 major metropolitan areas, 78 cities, and nearly 4.5 million people. East Central Florida Regional Planning Council’s Mission: To serve our citizens and member governments by identifying and addressing regional issues through communication and collaboration to develop strategies that create a healthy, sustainable, thriving, and resilient region for future generations.
