For some time now the CISEC, Inc. organization has been asked about developing new programs beyond Construction Inspection (CISEC). The feedback to paraphrase “it sure would be great if CISEC would develop other storm water compliance classes with certifications at the same professional level”. Well, with that in mind, and knowing that we were a little constrained given that the CISEC program was specifically oriented towards construction inspection, we decided to create and then adopt a parent organization, Ecopliant Environmental, Inc. Foundationally, CISEC, Inc. was developed using a continuous improvement model to keep current and relevant with the evolving regulations and practices of a global environment. In essence, teaching sediment and erosion control theory and then bridging the gap to application through practical real-world examples. We often express it as “developing your eye as an inspector”, see a problem, then ask yourself, where did this come from, and what are the impacts downstream? The goal of Ecopliant Environmental, Inc. is to take the same philosophy used with CISEC of bridging theory and application and apply it to other storm water disciplines. Initially, based on worldwide feedback, our focus homed in on 2 specific areas of need, specifically design and review (Ecopliant DesignPlus), and storm water fundamentals as well as advanced PDH classes (Ecopliant Institute). As these programs/certifications develop and become available, other opportunities/needs will become apparent e.g., MS4 storm water compliance, post construction BMP installation, inspection and maintenance as well as Fugitive Dust, etc. We are listening, and as Ecopliant Environmental, Inc. grows, your input on what you see as significant areas of need will be greatly appreciated. In closing, Ecopliant CISEC will remain the professional program and certification that we have all come to rely on.
