About EcoUrbia Network

EcoUrbia is a not-for profit organization, and a community-based sustainability portal. We are committed to raising awareness, and being responsive to the social, environmental and economic issues we currently face by engaging our neighbours, community & local government in developing and supporting sustainability-driven initiatives that will enrich our lives and give rise to greater resiliency. Through our portal, you can find out who is engaged in the region, as well as provincial, national or international groups, and learn more about the work they are doing in support of a sustainable future. We highlight local activities, and serve as a gateway for community members to engage with each other on sustainability issues within our municipalities, broaden public awareness, and offer opportunities for involvement and story sharing. Within each content stream…climate, energy, food, structures, transport, waste, water…you’ll find information, resources, and strategies in support of our evolution from the industrial era to the sustainability era. EcoUrbia has several initiatives underway with respect to urban agriculture, and community farming, as well as waste awareness, and reduction strategies. We promote education through the use of toolkits, an ecological footprint or food miles calculator, etc., and actively create connections to the work that other organizations are doing & the opportunities that are out there to get engaged, to be empowered, and to stay informed. .
