EDP are a forward thinking practice of consulting engineers providing a design based service within the built environment sector. With a strong pedigree in the design of mechanical and electrical services, it focuses on delivering project engineering and regulatory compliance in a low energy & sustainable environment. The practice recognises its strength in developing a mutually beneficial long term relationship based on its key resource – its people. During the recession, when few new build projects are being commissioned, EDP has successfully refocused its attention to servicing and developing the needs of its long term clients in respect of their current building stock. This has led to an increase in the delivery of audits, feasibility studies and refurbishment projects. Project deliveries in recent years have included the £30m campus redevelopment for Southampton City College which incorporated CHP and for which three buildings achieved an enviable BREEAM Excellent rating; the new £8m Library & Learning Centre providing IT intensive flexible 24h learning space at the heart of Surrey University’s campus; and closer to home, the £5m renewal of services at the Grade 1 listed Broadlands House in Romsey which incorporated biomass boilers and district heating for the house and estate buildings. All three are examples of EDP’s delivery of low carbon sustainable designs.
