About Educate Girls Now
Educate Girls Now is providing stipends, and physical, and educational support to mothers in Afghanistan who commit to educating their girls rather than forcing them to become child brides or leave school to support their family. We are bettering the lives of more than 150 Afghan girls and their families through monthly stipends and educational and vocational training programs. When the Taliban forbade girls from attending 7th - 12th grade EGN started online classes, home tutoring, local mentors, and after-school programs for girls in grades 7 through 12. Girls are now receiving personalized education programs to ensure a generation of girls do not lose their opportunity for an education. Understanding the importance of a comprehensive educational program, EGN initiated our Pathways School International School through which we provide a full curricular pathway for Afghan girls to earn diplomas from Oak Meadow, an accredited US school. Our curriculum allows students to meet the academic requirements for high school graduation. It prepares them to attend a university outside of Afghanistan, an online regional university such as American University in Afghanistan, and/or participate in the economy of Afghanistan or other country. We are unaware of any other organization that can offer this path of high school recognition and accreditation. We also train teachers in the Oak Meadow curriculum and provide continual professional development thus preparing future generations of women ready to educate Afghan girls. We believe this is a gift to Afghan girls and to the future of Afghanistan.
