About Education Foundation of WCPS

WHO WE ARE The Education Foundation of WCPS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in 2009 as the "WCPS Education Foundation" to respond to the local need for increased community involvement and support for public education in Washington County, Maryland. The foundation's Board of Directors is comprised of parents, business and civic leaders as well as WCPS staff. These community members come together to responsibly steward funds into supportive programming and Innovative Grant distribution. WHAT WE DO Support educational activities not typically funded by tax dollars. Inspire community involvement and Investment in public education. Enhance education through innovative teaching and learning initiatives. WHO WE SERVE 22,000+ Students 1,236 Support Staff 1,772 Teachers 214 Administrators in 26 Elementary Schools 7 Middle Schools 9 High Schools and 3 Special Programs of Washington County Public Schools, Maryland OUR PROGRAMS Innovative Grants Each year the Education Foundation of WCPS awards thousands of dollars in grants to Washington County Public Schools educators to implement their innovative project ideas. Financial Literacy Mentors and educators teach the Education Foundation's financial literacy curriculum in the classroom to students preparing to go to college. This program provides lessons in budgeting, FAFSA applications and real life financial skills. Super Readers Super Readers volunteers train with the Education Foundation of WCPS to support teachers in participating elementary schools.
