About Ehl Kitchens
EHL Kitchens has been designing, building and installing cabinetry and countertops since 1965, but the business traces its roots back to generations of woodworkers in the DiSomma family, originally from Castellammare di Stabia in the Napoli region of Italy. The current owner, Mario DiSomma, remembers sweeping floors in the shop as a child and he’s worked in all facets of the cabinet business ever since then. Mario is at least the third generation of cabinet makers in his family. Why the name EHL Kitchens? When Mario’s father Gaetano first began the business, it was located in East Hartford and specialized in laminated cabinetry—hence the acronym EHL for East Hartford Laminating. In 1969 with trends shifting towards all wood cabinetry, the company moved to Glastonbury, and the name was shortened to EHL Kitchens.
