About Ekukhanyeni Relief Project
Ekukhanyeni Relief Project is a South African non-governmental organisation (NGO), rooted in the communities we serve in the Johannesburg area and dedicated to transforming Early Childhood Development (ECD) in informal settlements. Since 2005, we have worked to nurture little children in their earliest years and to equip the women who care for them to lead change in their communities. Guided by our pillars of Educate, Nourish, Empower, we have developed an innovative ECD model that brings together early childhood care and learning, food security, and women’s empowerment. This model not only strengthens children, but also enables women to grow as social entrepreneurs, educators, and local leaders. Over the past 20 years, Ekukhanyeni has become a trusted partner and pioneer in ECD and community upliftment, with programmes led by experienced community practitioners, making our work both deeply local and widely impactful. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we remain committed to building sustainable pathways in Early Childhood Development - the most powerful investment in South Africa’s future.
