About El Paso Health
In 1998, Dr. Gordon McGee and other prominent El Paso Physicians recognized the need for improved accessibility to better healthcare in the community, thus the beginning of El Paso First Health Plans Inc. They developed partnerships with private practices and public health providers to deliver CHIP to the El Paso region. In 2001, El Paso Health enrolled its first 1000 members into the Texas CHIP program. El Paso Health remains the region’s only locally owned and operated non-profit managed care organization. Our portfolio of health plans is designed to improve access to high quality medical care for residents of El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. Established over twenty years ago by the El Paso County Hospital District, El Paso Health has grown to become the region’s leading source of CHIP & Medicaid health coverage. El Paso Health also offers the region’s only locally-managed Medicare Advantage Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP). In total, the health plan administers health benefits and services to nearly 100,000 members. Our extensive provider network includes the region’s finest medical professionals, and our many long-term partnerships with local non-profit organizations allow El Paso Health to consistently deliver on the specific and unique healthcare needs of the entire community.
