About Elhuyar

ELHUYAR is a non-profit organisation that was born in 1972. Elhuyar's main objective is to socialize Science and Technology and promote the progress of Basque language. It collaborates with several international players in various innovation projects leading or as partner of different European calls. ELHUYAR started its way as a Cultural Association and in 2002 it became into a private Foundation with a team of over 100 people divided in in four business units: • Elhuyar Language and Technology: Elhuyar is a reference institution in the standardization of the corpus and the status of the Basque language, Euskara. We are fully committed to R+D+I creating and offering language resources, tools and services for developing and normalising the Basque language. We offer translation services, language quality services and lexicographical services. • Elhuyar Science: We work to offer resources and services for introducing science and technology into society and for awakening curiosity about them. The unit’s main aim is to bring science closer to all publics and indifferent media: television, radio, magazine, websites etc. The Science education department works creating educational scenarios for formal and non-formal education and linking them with industry and technological centres. We work directly with several schools and the collaboration of the Basque Government education department. • Elhuyar Consulting: We are consultants offering services to achieve improvements in many spheres of society by building together. We work on the basis of participation and equality and offer an appropriate way of handling minority languages. We do consultancy in various fields, and we are officially certified as a company working on gender equality. • Communication: We offer customised services in the field of science and technical communication.
