ELION HOUSE ("Safehouse" for "Sun" technologies): The first clean-bio technology incubator from Japan, established in 2008 before the climate crisis was on the world agenda, developing the next-generation of clean energy technologies on the cutting edge of science. THE PROBLEM: Existing power technologies are dependent on either polluting fossil fuels or intermittent energy sources (solar, wind, tidal) that destabilise the power grid, thus require extensive and expensive battery storage and enormous resource use (land, critical materials and water for the manufacturing, cooling, cleaning of solar panels). SOLUTION ("Solar #2"): Next-generation BASELOAD (24/7) SOLAR technology that can generate continuous electricity, even at night, without: fossil fuels; weather-dependent solar panels and batteries, thus uses a fraction of the land, enabling onsite power for industry and microgrids. Solar #2 decarbonises the two big fossil energy products - electricity and combustion fuels. As transport and fuels (green hydrogen) electrify, a reliable source of green electricity is crucial for the energy transition, and for the sustainable production of green H2 from seawater at oil and gas scale.
