Excellence and Kindness in Research Training (ELIS) is a researcher-led initiative dedicated to promoting a culture of excellence and kindness in academia. We emphasize a culture of “Excellence and Kindness” - as opposed to a culture of "excellence" or "kindness" only - primarily targeting next-generation researchers and research leaders, though we welcome anyone with an interest in academic research culture. We organize and participate in activities that raise awareness about fostering a healthy research environment, and we actively work to influence research institutions and education programs at the policy level. The Excellence and Kindness in Research Training initiative is endorsed by the Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen and the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology at the University of Aalborg. The Excellence and Kindness in Research Training initiative was founded in 2024 by Professor Julie Midtgaard Klausen, Professor Michael Skovdal Rathleff and Professor Thomas Bandholm.
