About Elise Scott, M.D

Dr. Scott is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in women’s, reproductive, and young adult psychiatry. Traditional models of mental health care often transfer societal problems onto the individual. This can make it feel like there is something wrong with us or that we are to blame for our pain and suffering. But you are not alone. This is not your fault. And with the right support, you can and will feel better. I believe connection is the foundation of healing, and strong therapeutic relationships begin from a place of compassion and mutual respect. You are the expert of your mind and body, and I am an experienced partner when stress and mental illness get in the way of a healthy and joyful life. I take a holistic, neuroscience-informed, and integrated approach to mental health treatment, combining a thorough medical assessment with open-minded listening, psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and neuroscience-based medication management to help individuals heal, grow, and work toward authentic, value-driven lives. I completed my undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Gold Humanism honor societies. My husband and I then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where I completed my psychiatry residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in my final year and completing a specialized concentration in women’s mental health and reproductive psychiatry. During this time, I was honored to be chosen as a Laughlin Fellow, National Neuroscience Curriculum Initiative (NNCI) scholar, and Academic Psychiatry Resident Psychiatric Educator awardee for my contributions to psychiatric education and potential within the field.
