The Elizabeth R. Griffin Program (ERGP) upholds biosafety, biosecurity, and occupational health standards globally. Initially founded as the Elizabeth R. Griffin Foundation post the tragic loss of Elizabeth (Beth) Griffin to B virus, ERGP focuses on evidence-based practices to safeguard researchers and frontline workers. Beth's incident exposed institutional vulnerabilities, leading to ERGP's establishment. Partnering with key laboratory animal associations, ERGP develops educational programs and fosters biosafety training. Since the mid-2000s, ERGP advocates for global biosafety best practices, especially in low-resource settings, in collaboration with international and national biosafety associations. ERGP promotes partnership and collaboration between public and private facilities, addressing biosafety gaps with a One Health approach. Collaborations with science and research-based organizations guide ERGP's contributions to implementation guidance, high-quality training, and advocacy for occupational health improvement.
