About Ellern Mede Eating Disorder Services
Ellern Mede Group provides specialist inpatient and outpatient eating disorder services for children and adolescents up to 18 and beyond to age 25. We accept patients from anywhere in the world, both private and NHS patients where funding is agreed. At Ellern Mede Ridgeway in Mill Hill, London, we welcome all children and adolescents up to 18 years old with an eating disorder and eating related psychiatric presentations. Here we provide a high dependency intensive treatment programme (HDU) for even the most complex and challenging cases. We also have two other treatment wards for eating disorder rehabilitative care, one a separate Cottage complex for preparation for discharge. Our four hospitals mainly serve NHS patients. We can sometimes accept private patients self-funding. Some private medical insurance policies cover short term outpatient programmes. We can also see outpatients in central London at Harley Street or Wimpole Street Clinics. All our programmes provide medical and psychiatric stabilisation followed by a range of therapies, which can include family-based therapy, CRT, DBT, psychotherapy, art therapy, occupational therapy and motivation programmes. Both sites are well located for public transport and set in residential areas. We employ highly specialist clinical professionals and offer purpose-designed facilities. Our focus is on recovery goals. Family involvement is key in the recovery treatment process. Our friendly professionals will work closely with you to tailor a treatment programme to your child’s individual needs. We have our own Ofsted-registered school which provides tuition for Ellern Mede patients and other patients who need therapeutic education. This has a full curriculum up to GCSE and A level.
