We believe in a bigger and better idea of engineering. One driven by strategic consultancy and married with creative and technical expertise. Together we act as originators, advisors and doers for the built environment and beyond. As a certified B Corp, our role is to continue to inspire clients and organisations to think differently about their projects and buildings — not just aesthetically and commercially — but for the benefit of the planet and people who use them every day. We’ve been doing this for over 30 years, marrying small details with bigger ideas and revealing hidden opportunities that allow a project to have a positive impact. Our curious and collaborative nature enables us to challenge the status quo and establish new and essential facts — be it across the reuse of materials, digitising entire buildings in great detail, revisiting old craft techniques or embracing academia. As engineers, it’s our job to study, evaluate and steward our built environment. So we always look at the bigger picture — education, technology, health, infrastructure, culture and sustainability — all issues deeply entwined with the built environment. We know we can successfully engineer better buildings — so why not also apply our imaginations to society, culture and beyond? It’s a purpose we call Engineering a Better Society, and it drives us as a business to take action through our day-to-day work and the initiatives we undertake from The Building Archives through to our open-sourced Structural Carbon Tool.
