About ELSA Iceland
ELSA is the world's largest independent law students' association. It comprises a membership of 50.000 students and recent graduates with the purpose to contribute to legal education, to foster mutual understanding and to promote social responsibility of law students and young lawyers. ELSA operates primarily through its local groups, which are located at nearly 350 universities throughout 43 countries in Europe. The official vision of ELSA is "A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity". ELSA Iceland was re-founded in spring 2017. We aim to provide members of ELSA Iceland with the various opportunities that ELSA offers, including delegations at intergovernmental organisations, legal traineeships abroad through the STEP programme, mooting experience through international competitions in cooperation with the WTO and the ECtHR, legal research experience, specialised summer law schools, and so much more. ELSA Iceland attained formal Observership status within the ELSA network at the International Council Meeting in Sarajevo in October 2017, and aims to become full members of the network in 2018.
