About Elyse & i

Elyse & i was born in 2005 out of a love and passion for whimsical, bespoke bags that elicit quality in their design and detail. It started with former PR exec Emily Cheetham’s discovery of a 1930s antique Singer sewing machine, left to her by her Great-Aunt. Inspired by the beauty of the machine, and of days gone by where women made their own things, Emily’s inherent flair for creativity was ignited and she embarked on a full-time venture to design, create, and produce artisan-style bags, under the brand Cheet London. The label met with quick success and the bags have been sold worldwide at iconic stores such as Galeries Lafayette, Tara Jarmon, HP France and Baycrews. From Hollywood actresses to pop stars, fans of the brands include Natashca McElhone, Emma Thompson, The Saturdays and Jenni Falconer. For a self-taught designer with a background in languages and the arts, Emily has achieved a great deal. Winning Best Accessories Designer by the London Fashion Forum, she went on to collaborate with two high street giants HOBBS and Debenhams. Emily was runner up for two years at New York’s Independent Handbag Awards. Style bibles Grazia, In Style, Marie Claire and others have all featured her bags - Vogue.com was early to tout her as a ‘hot new name in bag design’ and Sassy Singapore has just ranked her as one of five top designers to watch. Emily now lives in Singapore with her husband and two children.
