About EMBRC - European Marine Biological Resource Centre
EMBRC is a research infrastructure that accelerates marine biology and ecology research in Europe. Through a network of 80+ marine sites in Europe, we provide access to marine biodiversity and ecosystems, and services and expertise in marine science to help researchers from academia and industry study the ocean and speed up discoveries. Our work helps to develop innovative solutions for the environment and the sustainable blue bioeconomy. EMBRC fills gaps in ocean observation data through EMO BON (European Marine Omics Biodiversity Observation Network). Part of the UN Ocean Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (OBON programme), this EMBRC’s initiative is the first coordinated long-term genomic biodiversity observatory in Europe that studies marine life using DNA techniques. In the face of global environmental challenges, EMBRC supports science-based decision-making and biodiversity management policies for a sustainable future. The organisation operates under the legal status of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), granted by the European Commission.
