About EMDR Latvija (Latvia) Association

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy technique recognized for its effectiveness in treating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The World Health Organization (WHO) endorses EMDR as an evidence-based method for helping individuals overcome the symptoms of PTSD, highlighting its utility in various therapeutic settings around the globe. Currently, EMDR has demonstrated its effectiveness beyond its initial scope, showing promising results in various other areas of mental health, such as anxiety, depression, phobias, and complex trauma, somatic disorders, among others. This acknowledgment by the WHO underscores EMDR's significant role in advancing mental health care and providing relief to those affected by traumatic experiences. EMDR Latvia is committed to advancing the quality of therapeutic standards in EMDR therapy delivered by clinicians. Our mission is to foster the growth of EMDR therapy within Latvia by providing education to Latvian psychologists, psychotherapists, and medical doctors operating in therapeutic settings. Furthermore, we aim to offer ongoing supervision to trained professionals. Additionally, we are dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the benefits of EMDR therapy among both professionals and the general public in Latvia.
