Emergency Management Consultants (EMC) is dedicated to use our experience and training to provide the highest quality consulting, classes and programs that prepare you to safely save life, environment and property during an emergency. Don't believe the new excuse for failures "never seen before unpredictable fire behavior". It's not true we research major fires and entrapments going from last season to the 1800's. Guess what, it has all happened before, and worse. The real problem is poor incomplete fire behavior training and in appropriate tactics. Pat Shreffler, owner has over 54 years of emergency management experience serving with the USFS, Kern County, Tulare County and 22 years on IMTs. EMC has been involved with instruction and curriculum development for NWCG, CSTI, SFT, EPA and FEMA. Including the development of the National NIIMS curriculum, NIIMS Train the trainer Courses for EMI and development of EPA's IMT curriculum. We have been presenters at Firehouse World, Cal Chiefs Training Officers Symposium, Fire Rescue West, EPA’s IMT Training Academy and the Central Valley Chemical Safety Day. Our wildland fire courses all include critical information the canned courses missed and application of the material to case studies. Our fire behavior courses are the most important courses a firefighter could take concerning wildland fire. There are 9 areas of life-threatening fire behavior information not taught in the standard courses. We present S-290 and S-390 in such a way as to let the firefighter apply the material to real world situations so the FF can use the information to make them safer and more effective. EMC developed the just approved Ca. State Fire Training CA-219, Firing Operations. This is a live fire course that trains fire fighters on backfire and burn out while providing a live fire exercise to local fire crews and IMT personnel.
