About Emergency Response Medical Group at the University of Toronto Scarborough

EMRG is a volunteer student-run medical response team located in and funded by the University of Toronto Scarborough that runs 24/7 apart from holidays and summers. Our service is offered to students, staff, faculty, and guests on the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. EMRG provides medical relief to distressed patients until EMS arrives and to injured patients where EMS is not required. EMRG also offers standard first aid courses to the public. EMRG responders are trained to emergency medical responder (EMR) certification, although responders may hold as high as PMD certification. Each responder on the team is held to a high level of responding which is reevaluated on a monthly basis. Responders must dedicate 48 on shift hours per month as well 5 hours per month towards in-service, and additional time towards various training courses. There are also additional positions within EMRG which requires more time commitment.
