About Emerging Leaders Program Bx
The Emerging Leaders Program empowers South Bronx youth to attain life-fulfilling careers through transformative career exposure and professional networking–building a foundation to become the next generation of industry leaders. The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is an education based non profit organization, with a focus on professional development amongst South Bronx Youth. Through a paid work based learning curriculum, ELP students gain in-demand professional skills, along with access to a community of trusted professionals across various industries. Students are met with foundational tools to jumpstart their future and find a path to life-fulfilling and sustainable careers. Born out of the pandemic as a remote outlet for students, ELP first launched in 2020 with 14 students. Today, the program has completed 5 cohorts/375 programming hours, enrolled 174 scholars, employed 4 ELP alumni, and placed 13 high school students in paid internships at a leading financial institution. In total, we have been supported by 4 public high schools, 375 industry mentors, 51 panelists covering 6 career pathways, and 30 Group Project partners. Encouraging early exposure on a high school level has given scholars the opportunity to elevate their professional positioning and become sought-after talent - creating the leaders of tomorrow.
