About Employers' Coalition on Health

The Employers' Coalition on Health (ECOH) was founded in 1995 by ten Rockford-area employers with a common goal of controlling health care costs through direct contracts with providers, while focusing on quality and appropriate delivery of care. Since then, the Coalition has grown to include more than 130 northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin companies, representing nearly 50,000 covered lives. At ECOH, our focus on quality has led to the development of collaborative initiatives with providers in the areas of patient satisfaction, diabetes management, plan design and treatment best practices, and on-site health and wellness education. In addition, the ECOH providers and board of directors meet regularly to understand the unique needs and perspectives of each group, as they relate to the delivery of health care in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Today, our member companies include manufacturers, health care providers, municipalities, local government, and school districts and ECOH has expanded the scope of its products and services. ECOH's traditional PPO network product serving self-funded employers has expanded to include two distinct networks with 20,000 primary and specialty care providers and 150 facilities throughout Illinois and portions of Wisconsin, Indiana and Iowa. ECOH is also addressing the challenges of small employers through its innovative Vital Signs™ program – a private health benefit exchange for local employers.
