About Empower at Scale

Empower At Scale (ExS) transforms mental health care delivery through evidence-based training and supervision systems that consistently achieve over 50% reduction in depression symptoms within 6-8 sessions. Drawing from Harvard Medical School's EMPOWER methodology and validated through implementation with leading US children's hospitals, ExS combines deep clinical expertise with innovative assessment and training approaches. The urgent need driving our work is clear: with mental health demand far outstripping provider capacity, we must fundamentally reimagine workforce development. Our approach creates exponential impact - a single cohort of 10 trained providers can treat 2,000 patients with moderate to moderately severe depression annually. More importantly, each trained provider becomes a multiplier, capable of supervising their own cohort while technology reduces supervision time from hours to minutes. This cascade effect means that instead of the traditional bottleneck of expert supervisors, we create a self-sustaining ecosystem where capacity grows geometrically. Our platform screens providers for essential interpersonal skills, assesses trainees using WHO-endorsed therapeutic frameworks (EQUIP BA, ENACT, WEACT), and provides research-grade supervision that would traditionally require years of expert oversight. Through comprehensive measurement of patient outcomes (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PSC-17, EDPC etc.) and provider wellbeing (satisfaction & burnout), we ensure both clinical effectiveness and workforce sustainability. By enabling non-specialists to deliver evidence-based care for common mental health conditions, we free psychotherapists to focus on complex cases requiring specialized expertise - optimizing the entire mental health workforce while dramatically reducing system costs. This integrated approach doesn't just train providers; it fundamentally reshapes how mental health services can be delivered at population scale.
