About Empower Through Music Society
Empower Through Music Society is a registered charity that aims to make learning an instrument simple and possible for everyone regardless of barrier. We provide music lessons and instruments to under served youth, with a focus on healing, community connection and personal fortitude. Our AL/LS 360 Jam Program is a unique music education program designed to support the emotional and cognitive needs of non-neurotypical youth in Grades 8 through 12. We began this program in 2019 in partnership with the Assisted Learning/Life Skills class in Vancouver’s Eric Hamber Secondary School and will expand to Killarney in September 2023. We are also exploring opportunities to implement and develop accessible music technologies and are involved in early stage discussions around developing a music education program for First Nations youth in Hope and Chilliwack. Empower Through Music fills a very unique and much-needed niche in our community by serving children who otherwise would not have access to music. We are a highly experienced collective of teachers with a passion for making an impact, whether it’s through traditional instruments such as the ukulele or the kalimba, or modern instruments using apps, technology and gesture-based devices. We have tools that can serve children of any need, and we are confident that your investment in our organization will go a long way in not only enhancing the lives of these children but also the communities around them.
