About EnCourage - a slow fashion brand
I am Marianne "Mau" Simmelkiær, a Danish designer based in the Greater Copenhagen Area of Denmark. I have been part of the fashion industry for 25 years, for good and for bad. As a designer, I have seen first-hand how the diversity of fashion expressions has skyrocketed over the years, only to lower the overall quality of the fashion industry, put pressure on the production facilities, confuse the end user and explosively increase the amount of waste we leave in landfills. As one who has contributed to this massive style-inferno in my early days as a designer, I now feel obligated to suggest an alternative. An alternative to "fast forward fashion". The alternative I offer is the EnCourage Philosophy, revolving around the EnCourage Suit supported by a small range of longlasting EnCourage products. The design must be timeless and the quality high, the products must be functional and make you feel strong, beautiful and comfortable at the same time. The EnCourage products are designed to ease your everyday life, to help you minimalize your wardrobe and encourage you to live a simpler life.
