Founded in 2008, Engagement in Education has grown to become a highly regarded and leading education consultancy leading the field in Parental Engagement, Online Reporting, Governance and Community Cohesion. The jewel in our crown is freeflowinfo, (launched in 2016) a research and evidence-based methodology which successfully introduced a totally new approach enabling the development of effective parental engagement in their children's learning, for all parents, regardless of their background or own educational experience. through the introduction of this unique concept. Why is it needed? Essentially, Since then the accolades have come thick and fast. Mentioned by name in the DFE Teacher Workload Reduction Toolkit in 2018 (saving an estimated 38 hours per teacher, per year) and the only product that provides 'an alternative means of reporting to parents' from the age of 4 to 19. The award in 2019 within the DfE EdTech Innovation Initiative, led to an independent academic research project into freeflowinfo's impact across a range of schools, by Professor Janet Goodall, Professor of Education at Swansea University, a recognised leader in the field of parental engagement and parental involvement. The findings were published in The Verbing of an app: "Can you freeflow it"? in May 2021, and have since been endorsed through academic peer review. 2021 also saw the publication of EiE's submission by the UK government's final report into the Education Select Committee's inquiry into 'Left-behind White Children from Disadvantaged Backgrounds', in which we explain the need for a national strategy that would enable all schools to deliver effective parental engagement. A crucial part of the app's continued development is the input from school leaders, teachers, parents and pupils. Whilst enshrining its main function of delivering effective parental engagement without increasing teacher workload, this unique communication tool is now enabling a host of other benefits.
