About Enlisted Heritage House
Constructed in 1935, the Enlisted Heritage House on Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, offers a positive atmosphere where military members, veterans, and their families can gather to build camaraderie, celebrate country, unit, and personal accomplishments, and encourage family connections. Since 2015, we have been supporting our mission by providing a meeting and social space for the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, and Space Force who serve or have served at Selfridge. The Enlisted Heritage House is a non-profit organization steered by an elected Board of Directors and funded solely by memberships, donations, and fundraisers. Those funds provide renovations, sustainment and allow for special events at the house. Visit our website at www.enlistedtedheritagehouse.com for more information on how you can become involved in the Enlisted Heritage House as a member, donor, or event sponsor. The Enlisted Heritage House is a grand, historic home that overlooks Anchor Bay in Lake St. Clair. Previously known as "Quarters One" or the "Generals House", the home is 3,187 square feet and cost $14,615 to build in 1935. Originally built as housing for senior military officers, the home served as the base commander's home prior to World War II. During World War II, it then became a nurse's quarters until after the war. It reverted back to officer's quarters and then nurses resided at the house during the early years of the Vietnam War. The home became vacant in 2007 and began to fall into disrepair. Members of the 127th Wing Chief Master Sergeant's Council proposed an effort to save it. The interior is now fully renovated and the house is used to host committee meetings, promotion and retirement ceremonies, and military family events.
