About Environment Centre NT
Established in 1983, The Environment Centre NT is the peak community sector environment organisation in the Northern Territory, Australia. We work alongside communities to preserve the NT's precious ecosystems, rivers and culture for future generations. We are the only community sector environment organisation based in the Top End that addresses all the major environmental and sustainability issues facing the Territory. We are independent and professional, and work hard to represent the interests of our members and supporters in creating a sustainable future for the Territory. The mission of the Environment Centre NT is to ► protect and restore biodiversity, ecosystems and ecological processes, ► foster sustainable living and development, and ► cut greenhouse gas emissions and build renewable energy capacity. Our strategic priorities Our work is guided by our Strategic Plan 2009/10 - 2013/14, which was developed through surveying our members about their views on what we should work on, and talking to key stakeholders in government, business, research and community sectors. The Strategic Plan was refined by staff, Board Directors, long term members and a few invited friends through a series of workshops. Our five Campaigns & Programs are: ► Nature Territory ► Safe Climate ► Green Living ► Nuclear Free NT ► Living Harbour Within each of these, we work to achieve various key outcomes.
