About EPIC Kids Development

EPIC was founded by Occupational Therapist Britta Carlson, a passionate advocate for early childhood education. Recognizing the critical shortage of quality childcare in Marquette County, she set out to create an innovative, all-inclusive childcare center. Her goal was to integrate developmental expertise from therapists with the educational guidance of teachers to create a supportive, multi-age learning environment. EPIC initially operated as a direct childcare center, offering flexible care options tailored to community needs. However, as staffing shortages and economic challenges continued to impact the childcare sector, EPIC pivoted its focus. Rather than competing for limited workforce resources, EPIC transitioned to a consulting and support model, creating resources that help parents, caregivers, and educators. Today, EPIC works to enhance early childhood education by creating accessible digital resources, supporting educators, and empowering families. At EPIC, our mission is to empower the early childhood sector by developing resources that support parents, caregivers, and educators by promoting best practices and developmental milestone awareness and activities, ensuring all children have access to high-quality early learning experiences.
