Equator is a Design House Manufacturer for the fashion, retail & wholesale trade globally. Based in Durban, South Africa, our factory is almost 20 years into its journey to be world class. At Equator (named after Earth’s favourite belt) we strive for excellence: people, product and supply chain excellence. This is achieved by carefully balancing the needs of the environment, our retail partners, customers and our own people and applying technology and the latest design & trend thinking to our processes. Because we have our own belt factory, we have an intimate understanding of our product categories. Can one sustainable factory save the world? Maybe not. We can still strive to reduce our carbon footprint and make sure we manage our business as sustainably as possible. We know the work to be more sustainable never ends. It takes ongoing innovation and commitment – and that excites us! Every day the bar gets raised. We work hard to ensure that behind our world class, South African made products are happy and healthy people, efficient operations, proud ethics and trade transparency. We have identified a short, medium and long-term plan of action to ensure we are always improving. In the short term we are targeting a four-star Green Existing Building Performance Certification from the Green Building Council of South Africa for our Durban based factory.
