ErgoNurse, providers of LiftZero, is an innovative player in the Safe Patient Handling field, allowing for a true “No-Lift” patient care environment. As a bed repositioning device, we form the backbone of multiple Safe Patient Handling (SPH) programs which have virtually eliminated patient lifting injuries. Many SPH specialists and ergonomists have realized that until bed repositioning is effectively addressed, any program will be incomplete and will not result in the desired injury reduction. Because LiftZero uses normal bed linen to reposition patients, it’s not necessary to leave a sling under them. In addition, the LiftZero can assist patient care providers in placing slings for transfers – without any lifting. LiftZero can: • Turn patients from side to side • Boost them to the head of the bed • Center or off-center them in the bed • Perform all lifting for linen changes • Facilitate no-lift sling and transfer tool placement • Provide for spinal precautions • Allow no-lift placement of X-ray cartridges Because LiftZero can be so conveniently used to turn and reposition patients on a 2 hour schedule, it has been associated with a dramatic decrease in pressure ulcer rates. Providers are aware that Medicare/Medicaid no longer reimburses for Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers (HAPU). When the reduced costs from worker’s comp and pressure ulcers are figured in, the Return on Investment for a LiftZero system can be as low as three (3) months!
