Founded in 1973, Eric Owen Moss Architects (EOMA) is an innovative architecture and urban design practice based in Culver City, California. The 25-person firm has realized architectural works nationally and overseas and has received the highest honors from civic, professional, and academic institutions worldwide. With each new project EOMA explores new ways to think, to feel, to see, and to understand architecture – to continually ‘Make it New.’ The firm avoids traditional organization strategies, standardized design solutions, and any notion of architecture as simply a repetitive style. Each new design endeavor is positioned within an ongoing search for new and imaginative ways of engaging the world, with the aim of creating spaces where everyone can feel this powerful spirit of discovery. The design process is propelled by a fascination with both by individual buildings, and the evolving inter-relationship between building and city. EOMA continues to investigate that urban exchange in a search of alternative design tactics, methods, and techniques that will obligate and modify both building and city. EOMA’s history is deeply rooted in both practice and research, with a well-established record of inventive strategies for building organization, use, form, structure, and material application. Imaginative design solutions are the result of careful examination of project requirements, site constraints, environmental objectives, and the conceptual dexterity of the architects working with clients to develop design solutions specifically tailored to each project. EOMA has been recognized with over 150 international awards and prizes. The work has been published and exhibited widely, and is featured in the permanent collection of several major museums around the globe, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, and the Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna.
