About Eriksfiord
Eriksfiord is a provider of geological services, a pioneer since the early days of dipmeter and borehole image logging. Our main expertise is the processing and interpretation of borehole image logs with respect to structural geology, sedimentology, and stress field. We also offer geomechanical modelling. Eriksfiord experience includes all commercial borehole image and dipmeter logs, old as new, from all main contractors. These data may be derived from micro-resistivity, acoustic, density, gamma or other petrophysical readings of the borehole wall in a vertical, deviated or horizontal well, requiring a sound geological insight for identification and evaluation of features in 3D space. Images are also used to re-orient and interpret cores, as well as to evaluate borehole stability, to model fracture patterns, to detect faults, and to analyse paleo-geographical trends. The methodology of borehole image analysis involves identification of geological features (fractures, bedding planes, lamination, breakout, facies), the spatial distribution of planar and linear elements using stereographic displays, and their projection along welltrace for comparison with seismic or a 3D model. The client may prefer to send us data and we present a report after completion of the work. Other projects are more interactive e.g. during ongoing drilling of a well, i.e. our staff have several work sessions with client teams during the work, and we help implement results in the client's workflow. Other types of services require that our staff are directly included in the project team and work in the client's office. We also provide training, often in the form of courses specifically designed for a client. Expert advice is provided in the form of expert witnessing, prospect evaluation for investors, as independent opinions in the event of conflicts, or as on-site supervision of data acquisition. For projects of a wide scope, we have access to a large network of specialized suppliers.
