About EST Lab@energycenter

The Energy Security Transition Lab (EST) @ Energy Center is one of the poles of "energy thinking" of Polytechnic of Turin, with reference to energy transition and security. EST intercepts the instances, in the decision-making process, of national and international institutional, industrial and research stakeholders, to which it responds through a vision and "technologies" "made in Torino/Politecnico/Energy Center", able to generate impact on society. EST implements the concept of a "dynamic" think tank, which differs from traditional think tanks since it aims to produce not "static" reports but to develop methodologies and tools that make it possible to track and constantly monitor the evolution of the analysed systems. The approach adopted by EST is based on the need to develop a holistic vision to model and study energy systems, which are complex, dynamic and multi-layer. This approach is instance-based, i.e. it responds to real stakeholder instances and it supports the national and international debate on energy transition and security by developing models and scientific tools (i.e. web-platforms). EST collaborates with various stakeholders and it is developing the "plat.form of energy", a software platform system, consisting of several thematic apps, focused on planning and future scenario analyses relating to specific energy fields, in a multi-layer perspective.
