About Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council
The Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council (ECSOC) was established on December 31, 2020, in accordance with article 85 of the CSO proclamation no. 1113/2019. The Council is governed through the full participation of all CSOs in Ethiopia and operates as an independent institution. The highest decision-making organ of ECSOC is the 300 General Assembly and the Executive Committee which has 21 members. ECSOC currently represents over 3600 CSOs including consortiums and associations with members growing rapidly. The council has the following functions: A. Enact the Code of Conduct for the sector and devise enforcement mechanisms B. Advise the Authority for Civil Society Organizations on the registration and administration of CSOs C. represent and coordinate the civil society sector ECSOC gains its budget from members' contributions and other legal means.
