About Eu-Brain

Eu-Brain was born from the 'meeting between a mother, Ingrid Gallo, who has had to know perinatal neurology in depth despite herself, and a pediatrician in love with newborns' brains, Luca Ramenghi, Head of U.O.C. Neonatal Pathology at the Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa. Luca had been planning for some time to found an association for the promotion and research of perinatal neurology issues, driven by his passion for the newborn's brain and a very strong, objective awareness of how little research is still being done in this field. Ingrid, for her part, has lived three months in the intensive care unit, has seen many stories of mothers and fathers who will have to devote themselves body and soul to their babies, who have experienced tragic moments. Eu-Brain was created to offer them useful support to live this adventure to the fullest, but above all to promote research to remove the root of the problem and make sure that newborns have access to ever better diagnostic and therapeutic tools. Today Eu-Brain aims to spread perinatal neurological culture, that is, to divulge what is known today about the various neurological problems a baby can encounter, both in the mother's belly and once born. As Eu-brain we believe that physician-parent communication is fundamental to support parents so that they may be more aware and be able to cope in the best possible way with the wonderful adventure that is the birth of a child, making sure that newborns have access to ever-improving diagnostic and therapeutic tools. The name Eu-Brain has a double meaning: "Eu" is both meant as a Greek suffix meaning "Good/Good," to summarize in its very name the association's princely purpose, which is to make the infant's brain grow as well as possible. But EU is also reminiscent of EUrope: another goal of Eu-Brain is to expand and pursue its aims throughout the old continent, in keeping with the great tradition of research on the encephalon in the perinatal period.
