About European Federation of Immunological Societies
The European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) is a non-profit umbrella organization that represents 36 European immunology societies, including, as well, associations from Eurasia and the Middle East. Members of EFIS-affiliated societies are automatically considered members of EFIS and can take advantage of its programmes. EFIS connects nearly 14,000 researchers and clinicians working in immunology, allergology and related fields. The main goals of EFIS are to support immunological research and education, as well as to strengthen scientific interaction amongst its members. Together with its partner official journals, the European Journal of Immunology and Immunology Letters, EFIS focuses especially on supporting young scientists, e.g., through fellowships or travel grants. For more info, browse the pages dedicated to EFIS-EJI Meeting Support, EFIS-IL Short-term Fellowships, Travel Grants and Awards on www.efis.org. The EFIS was founded at a meeting held in Amsterdam in September 1975. In the beginning, the legal body of this society was the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). During a meeting held in Helsinki in 1991, it was decided to incorporate the articles in a notarial deed, and on April 5th, 1995, EFIS was formally registered as an independent legal body c/o the Utrecht (NL) Chamber of Commerce.
