Founded in 2001 as an innovative company for weather consulting services for the energy industry, EuroWind quickly evolved into a specialist for top-quality wind resource and energy yield assessments. Particularly for offshore wind farms and sites in a complex terrain structure, EuroWind, with its in-house developed highly flexible three-dimensional mesoscale model named WIEN, shaped up as the expert for long range energy predictions. In 2002, EuroWind started engaging in short-term wind power forecasting as well. Its forecasting software SOWIE is a physical multi-model wind power forecasting system using several independent numerical weather prediction models as input (COSMO-EU, HiRLAM, GFS & ECMWF). SOWIE is internationally accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 since 2007, thereby guaranteeing highest quality. It can generate accurate 8-day forecasts of the wind- and solar power generation for any given country, region, supply area, or wind farm in Europe or China. The forecasts are updated up to 8 times per day and are accessible online via the web-portal www.spotrenewables.com, (S-)FTP-account or email. Today, EuroWind is one of the market leaders for wind and solar power forecasts. Following the motto "MAKING RENEWABLES PREDICTABLE“, the company attempts to forecast the output of renewable energies as accurately as possible, thereby rendering their marketing more profitable and hence making an important contribution to the Energy Revolution.
